Wildeboer Dellelce was founded in 1993 by five partners who had the vision of building a standalone corporate finance and tax law firm that would compete with Canada’s much larger, established corporate law firms. In its first week the firm purchased a pool table for its library. While the pool table does not get as much use today as in those early days, it still serves as a symbol of the firm’s identity and culture.
The firm has grown to over 70 people with approximately 45 legal professionals who serve the legal needs of a diverse client base of both public and private businesses. From 2001-2011, the firm maintained a branch office in Waterloo and the firm continues to service its Kitchener-Waterloo client base in the technology and knowledge based industries out of its Toronto office. In 2006 the firm moved from offices in One First Canadian Place to its own building, Wildeboer Dellelce Place, at the corner of Bay and Richmond Streets in Toronto.
A TESTIMONIAL - "I am the General Counsel of [US based international client] and we used your firm to assist us in our acquisition of [Canadian target] in Toronto. I wanted to write…to express how immensely pleased we were with the work of [Wildeboer Dellelce lawyers]. Throughout the many months that it took to plan and execute this transaction, and the many complexities of our model and the deal itself, [they] provided pragmatic, business savvy advice that enabled us to get to the end of the deal in a really positive way. I know lawyers are used to working long hours, and dealing with challenging situations, but I felt you should know that [they] really went above and beyond in some really trying circumstances and we couldn’t be more pleased."
Wildeboer Dellelce is today decidedly different from what most commonly defines a Bay Street law firm: the firm considers itself to be an entrepreneurial force for legal practice innovation and one of Canada’s most innovative and entrepreneurial law firms, continually changing the definition of what it means to be a partner and trusted adviser to business. Wildeboer Dellelce invests in the success of its clients, serving as business law advisers at all stages of the business lifecycle from start-up to industry leader.
Reflecting this entrepreneurial spirit and focus on innovation, Wildeboer Dellelce recently announced the formation of the WD Group of Companies to better serve our clients.
Founded in 2009 by Wildeboer Dellelce LLP, WD Capital Markets is a boutique corporate finance and M&A advisory firm and provides debt and equity financing services, M&A advisory, public markets and advisory and outsourced CFO services. The second company in the WD Group of Companies is WD Numeric Corporate Services, a Toronto-based corporate services and bookkeeping company that provides Canadian companies with a full portfolio of corporate services: bookkeeping, payroll, accounting, controllership, financial strategies, tax compliance, audit prepping and more.
Wildeboer Dellelce has extensive experience acting for both dealers and issuers in the Canadian capital markets. In fact, the firm is a recognized leader in corporate finance transactional law, securities law compliance and structuring and other investment-related legal counsel and advice. With dozens of public listings over the past few years, the firm has developed a deep understanding of the business structures required at every stage of a company’s evolution to maximize investment potential and market appeal.
Calling a law firm for advice is often seen as something driven largely by circumstance and need. At Wildeboer Dellelce the perspective taken on client relationships is one of being a practical and committed business adviser who provides counsel and services designed to meet the priorities and focused needs of the client. Delivered in a partner focused “single point of contact” model, Wildeboer Dellelce works every day to ensure that its lawyers remain highly responsive to client needs, and recognized for not only the quality of their counsel but the nature in which that counsel is delivered. Taking a longer term perspective in many instances has led Wildeboer Dellelce to make strategic investments in its clients where appropriate because it reflects the firm's belief in the long term viability and success of its clients. It’s just one more example of what makes Wildeboer Dellelce a decidedly better choice for business.
