Overview

Katie is a lawyer practising primarily in the areas of corporate finance and securities, mergers and acquisitions and corporate and commercial law. Katie first joined the firm as a summer student in 2019 and articled with the firm in 2020-2021. As a first-year lawyer, Katie completed a four-month secondment at OMERS pension fund where she took on the role of proxy analyst and assisted the capital markets legal team.

 

Katie received a Juris Doctor from the Faculty of Law at the University of Windsor and a Juris Doctor (summa cum laude) from the School of Law at the University of Detroit Mercy through the Dual JD Program. She received the Board of Governors medal for graduating with the highest academic standing in her program.

 

Prior to law school, she obtained a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Paralegal Studies from Humber College and was a licensed paralegal. Katie’s passion for law stems from a desire to leverage her legal knowledge to provide creative solutions catered to her clients’ needs.

 

While in law school, she assumed a mentorship role to first-year law students as part of the Peer Mentorship Program, served as a student advisor to the Career Services Office, and acted as a facilitator for high school outreach. In Michigan, she held an externship at the Federal District Court and served clients at the Federal Pro Se Clinic.

 

Katie is a supervising lawyer with the Osgoode Venture Capital Clinic which provides legal services to early-stage entrepreneurial ventures in the financing and equity structuring stages of growth. Katie is also a mentor for the Mentorship in the Field Program at Lincoln Alexander School of Law which pairs experienced lawyers with law students who are looking for career and other guidance.

 

As part of the firm’s partnership with Canada Basketball, the National Sporting Organization for Basketball in Canada, Katie is part of a team of lawyers providing pro bono legal services to BIPOC owned and operated businesses within the Basketball community who have applied, through Canada Basketball, for legal assistance to either launch or grow their businesses.

 

Katie recently received The Osgoode Certificate in ESG, Climate Risk & The Law.

 

Outside of law, you can find Katie playing hockey, travelling or enrolling in classes to learn a new skill. The new skill that she is currently striving for is scuba diving.
