Melissa is an associate practising primarily in the areas of corporate finance and securities, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate and commercial law.
Recent firm mandates that Melissa has been involved with include:
- Red Pine Exploration Inc.’s consolidation of the Wawa Gold Project and related $20 million subscription receipt offering
- Bond Bakery Brands Limited investments in Portofino Bakery Ltd. and Pace Processing and Product Development Ltd.
- Nest Wealth Asset Management Inc.’s expanded partnership with National Bank of Canada
- Caldas Gold Corp.’s private placements of US$83 million and $50 million
Melissa received her Juris Doctor from the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto. She also holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from Queen’s University, specializing in English Literature.
Prior to joining the firm, Melissa taught an LSAT class for a leading LSAT test preparation company and worked as a research associate at a start-up company that used predictive modeling to develop tax software.
Melissa is a supervising lawyer with the Osgoode Venture Capital Clinic which provides legal services to early stage entrepreneurial ventures in the financing and equity structuring stages of growth.
Melissa presented on privacy law considerations for startups at the Canadian Fintech Summit hosted by Framework Venture Partners, BDC Capital and MaRS Discovery District in April 2020.
