Sanjeev Patel, Partner at Wildeboer Dellelce LLP

Overview

Sanjeev (he, him) is a partner practising in the areas of corporate, commercial, securities and debt products with an emphasis on corporate finance transactions, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance.

Sanjeev represents a number of public and private corporations in a variety of industries including financial services, healthcare, technology, retail and natural resources. He regularly advises clients across a broad spectrum of transactions including domestic and cross-border financings and M&A transactions, corporate restructurings and reorganizations, proxy contests and secured lending transactions. Sanjeev also assists clients with their regulatory filings and their dealings with provincial securities commissions and stock exchanges.

Sanjeev previously served on the Ontario Securities Commission’s Continuous Disclosure Advisory Committee as well as completed a six-month secondment in the OSC’s Corporate Finance Branch.

Recently, Sanjeev partnered with Counselwell, an online resource centre for in-house lawyers, to deliver a presentation on the use of boilerplate clauses in commercial agreements. The presentation focuses on deconstructing the meaning behind common boilerplate clauses and identifying key considerations in their preparation.

Prior to his call to the Bar, Sanjeev practised as a Pharmacist in both Manitoba and Ontario. Sanjeev leverages his scientific background and analytical skills to assist clients in understanding and assessing risk with a view to finding practical legal and business solutions.

Having started his legal career at WD as an Articling Student, Sanjeev is now the Chair of the Student Committee. He also sits on the firm’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and is actively involved with WD’s continuing legal education endeavours. As part of the firm’s partnership with Canada Basketball, the National Sporting Organization for Basketball in Canada, Sanjeev leads the firm’s initiative in providing pro bono legal services to BIPOC owned and operated businesses within the Basketball community who have applied, through Canada Basketball, for legal assistance to either launch or grow their businesses.

Outside of the office, Sanjeev enjoys experimenting in the kitchen (with varying degrees of success) and seeing his childrens’ excitement as they discover new things, which he hopes will one day include a golf club.
