Sam Fata
Overview
Sam is a lawyer practising primarily in the areas of tax, corporate finance and securities, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate and commercial law. Sam first joined the firm as a summer student in 2021 and articled with the firm in 2022-2023.
Sam earned his Juris Doctor from the Faculty of Law at Queen’s University. Prior to law school, he obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (with High Distinction) from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.
While in law school, Sam was a Teaching Assistant for Business Law and Introduction to Employment Law. In his final two years of law school, he also acted as the President for the Queen’s Tax Law Society.
Alongside his studies at Queen’s, Sam served as a caseworker for the Queen’s Business Law Clinic where he assisted clients on a variety of matters such as employment contracts, shareholder agreements, corporate filings and trademarks. He was also actively involved with Queen’s Legal Aid, advocating for clients at the Landlord and Tenant Board and Small Claims Court.
During law school, Sam was awarded the David Mullan Scholarship and the Queen’s Law Course Prize in Contracts Law.
Outside of law, Sam’s interests include golfing, mixed martial arts and playing guitar.
