Niall Sweeney

Niall Sweeney advises public and private companies, investment banks, investors and entrepreneurs on complex corporate transactions, capital markets matters and securities regulatory issues. He is frequently called upon to advise boards of directors, management teams and investors on financings, mergers and acquisitions, go-public transactions, strategic investments and other transformative business initiatives. He also advises public companies on corporate governance, continuous disclosure and stock exchange compliance matters.

Niall’s clients operate across a broad range of industries, including mining, technology, energy, agriculture, industrials and consumer products.

Beyond his practice, Niall has held teaching and mentorship roles with Osgoode Hall Law School, including as an Adjunct Professor and supervising lawyer with the Osgoode Venture Capital Clinic. Through these roles, he has contributed to the development of future lawyers and advised emerging companies on financing and corporate structuring matters. He is also a member of the Alliott Global Alliance, an international network of independent professional services firms.

Niall holds a Juris Doctor from both the University of Windsor Faculty of Law and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, as well as an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Toronto.

Outside of his legal practice, Niall has served on the boards and committees of a number of Toronto-based not-for-profit organizations and remains committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen the communities in which he lives and works. He is also the recipient of the Toronto Fire Services Certificate of Merit. In his spare time, Niall enjoys golf, hockey and supporting Toronto’s professional sports teams.
