Michael Rennie
Overview
As a partner at the firm, Michael practises primarily in the areas of securities, corporate finance, M&A and commercial law. He acts for both private and public clients across a diverse range of industries in connection with a variety of matters, including financings, go-public transactions, M&A, securities law compliance, corporate governance and commercial arrangements, in each case both domestic and cross-border.
Mandates that Michael has been involved with include acting for:
- QMX Gold Corporation in its $132 million acquisition by Eldorado Gold Corporation
- The Special Committee of Starlight Multi-Family (No. 5) Core Fund in its $1.4 billion acquisition by Tricon Capital Group
- Real Matters Inc. in its $1.13 Billion IPO
- Tokyo Smoke in its merger with DOJA Cannabis to form HIKU Brands Company Ltd. and related go public financing
- BIOX in its cross-border joint venture acquisition with World Energy of a 90 million USG Biodiesel facility in Houston
- SunOpta in its US$330 million debt facility and related US$444 million acquisition
- WorldGaming in its sale of its operating business to Cineplex Entertainment
He is past Co-Chair of the BBBST Young Leaders committee, a fundraising arm of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto. In his non-work hours, Mike is usually taking advantage of Toronto’s restaurant scene, watching old movies or cheering on his beloved Green Bay Packers.
