Ridout & Maybee LLP Signs Definitive Agreement to be Acquired by IPH Limited and to join Smart & Biggar
On August 17, 2023, IPH Limited and affiliates entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Intellectual Property services firm, Ridout & Maybee LLP for a consideration of C$65million, payable in cash and shares of IPH Limited (the “Transaction”). Upon closing of the Transaction, Ridout & Maybee LLP will operate under the Smart & Biggar brand. The Transaction brings together two leading Canadian IP firms and their highly qualified and experienced IP teams into one combined firm.
The IPH group is Asia Pacific’s leading IP services group, comprising a network of member firms working throughout eight jurisdictions in the Asia Pacific region. IPH Limited, the parent company of the group, is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.
Ridout & Maybee LLP, established in 1893, is a well-known Canadian IP firm, with more than 30 high quality IP professional staff working from Toronto, Ottawa and Burlington offices.
